Definition of Slavery:
Slavery is a system where people are treated like property and are bought and sold. They are forced to work against their will under violence or threat of violence and are paid nothing. Like slaves of the past, slaves today are not able to walk away as they have lost control of their lives, and they are exploited and brutalised in terrible ways. Historically, slavery was institutionally recognised by most societies, but slavery has been outlawed by all counties, but it continues through the practices of debt bondage, indentured servitude, serfdom, domestic servants kept in captivity, certain adoptions in which children are forced to work as servants, child soldiers, and forced marriage. Slavery is officially illegal in all countries, however there are still an estimated 20 million to 30 million slaves worldwide.
Child Slavery refers to slavery of children at a young age. In the past, many children have been sold into slavery in order for their family to repay debts or crimes or earn some money if the family were short of cash.
Types of Child Slavery:
- Forced Labor
- Child Soldiers
- Domestic Labor
- Involvement in Illicit Activities (Producing and trafficking drugs)
- Agricultural Labor
- Market Trading
- Sex Slaves
- Child Trafficking

- Prostitution
